Reflection, Engagement, and Community

The Gregorian Scholars Honors Program is a community of students and faculty that unites intellectual life, faith, and our local cultural history to create an invigorating environment of thought and reflection.

Rooted in the rich tradition of the liberal arts, the program is open to students from all disciplines and schools and distinguished by the close personal attention students receive from faculty mentors.

Honors Highlights

Inspired by Newman’s Idea of a university, Gregorian Scholars Honors Program cultivates friendship between students who are united by their desire to pursue the truth for its own sake. The program is entirely extracurricular. Honors students participate in monthly colloquia, where fellow students and faculty mentors gather around a significant reading from within the Western tradition. They also attend a series of events including an annual speaker and cultural excursions. Gregorian Scholars develop into careful readers, concise thinkers, and engaged conversationalists.

As a Gregorian Honors scholar, you will:

  • Participate in a minimum of three evening colloquia per semester with honors faculty
  • Engage with great thinkers and texts
  • Examine beautiful works of art
  • Experience outstanding performances
  • Explore the natural wonders and historical sites of North Dakota and the Great Plains
  • Enjoy meals and conversations with faculty mentors and guest speakers.

Students who have a deep longing for the noble and the true will find in this program a place of personal engagement with the most significant and pressing questions of human existence.

Meet Honors Faculty Mentors

The Honors Program is set apart by the mentorship that students receive from faculty — in and out of the classroom.
